Law School Graduation

Students Celebrating Graduation

There can be confusion between Graduation and Commencement. Commencement and Graduation are separate events with different dates. Graduation is the completion of all degree requirements as certified on the official transcript. Commencement is the ceremony that celebrates the completion of a degree. To determine degree dates please consult the UIC Registrar’s Office.

Graduation is not automatic, students must submit an Intent to Graduate application in order to have a degree certified.

The submission deadline is Friday of the third week of the fall and spring semesters, and Friday of the second week in summer.

Please be sure to follow all steps outlined in the application, and verify that your diploma name and diploma mailing address are updated.

Note: Students graduating with both the JD and LLM in the same term must complete two applications to graduate; both part I and supplemental part II for each degree program.

Students can check their degree audits to ensure Program requirements have been met.
