Honors and Awards Ceremony
Throughout the academic year, UIC Law faculty and staff acknowledge students for their personal accomplishments and academic excellence. The Office of the Dean, the Office of Student Life & Leadership, and the Office for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion invite the entire UIC Law community to celebrate students with an Honors & Awards Ceremony. The ceremony recognizes students in the following categories:
- Deans List Honorees
- Top Grade Earners
- Honors Program and Student Bar Association Members
- National Honors Organizations
- Special Service to UIC
- External Honors and Achievements
Student Leadership Awards
Each year, the department of Student Life and Leadership hosts an Honors and Awards ceremony to highlight various student accomplishments.
- Social Impact Award-Â an honor given to students who have demonstrated strong leadership in generating campus awareness about existing social issues and advocating for change in the community.
- Spirit of Excellence Award- This award honors a student whose leadership and collaboration with The Office of Student Life & Leadership has enhanced opportunities for student involvement and wellbeing.
Diversity Week
Each year, the law school hosts a week of programming celebrating its unique and diverse culture. The annual event includes daily presentations and discussions with legal experts and community leaders on topics related to diversity and current events. Diversity week always concludes with a “Taste Around the World” event to expand with your pallet with amazing international dish samples.
Student Travel Grant Assistance
UIC Law is invested in your growth as a practitioner and policy leader of tomorrow. In addition to a strong academic and experiential education, we provide our students with opportunities to expand their leadership experience and professional impact by working with members of the faculty, administration, and legal community.
When students find a law-related opportunity not otherwise funded by the law school, they can apply for a Law Student Travel Grant to offset the cost of event-related travel, program registration, and other expenses.

Opportunities Beyond the Classroom: Student Travel Grants Heading link
Full-time and part-time students are eligible to apply for a travel grant to help offset the cost of professional conference attendance. As part of the award process, students must submit a photo and reflection essay of their experience. Reach out to the Office of Student Life for more information.
