Fall Writing Workshops

Suggested Audience: First-Semester 1L Students
This interactive workshop helps students understand how to create objective legal documents, such as the Lawyering Skills I legal memorandum. Specifically, the workshop is designed for first-semester 1L students.

Spring Writing Workshops

Suggested Audience: All Students; Priority given to Second-Semester 1L Students
This workshop teaches the persuasion skills that lawyers need to write demand letters, briefs, and other persuasive documents. Priority registration is given to second-semester 1L students, but all students are welcome to attend.

Cover Letter Workshop

Co-sponsored with the Career Services Office
Suggested Audience: All Students
This workshop teaches students how to draft a stellar cover letter. Be prepared; the cover letter is the employer’s first introduction to a potential employee. Specifically, this workshop is designed for 1L students entering the legal job market, but all students are welcome to attend.

Develop Citation Literacy: Cite It Right Online Workshop

Suggested Audience: All Students
This interactive workshop helps students understand and master the rules of citation that are critical to the practice of law. We strongly encourage all first-semester students complete the online modules before submitting their final Lawyering Skills I assignment. And we invite all other students to use this online workshop to brush up on their citation skills before venturing into the job market.

One-on-One Coaching Sessions Heading link

Drop in or make an appointment. One-on-one coaching sessions are available in person or online. Scheduled appointments are typically 30 minutes; however, a 45-minute appointment can be scheduled with authorization from the referring authority. Drop in appointments are 15 minutes.

Our staff will help students review the following:

  • Lawyering Skills I, II, and III Assignments (including rewritten assignments)
  • Writing Samples
  • Cover Letters (per referral from the Career Services Office)
  • Seminar/Paper-Course Assignments (per referral from faculty)
