Mission Statement
The Campus Safety & Security Department supports the mission of the UIC School of Law. As part of the University of Illinois Chicago, all visitors are welcomed to our downtown facility. Our team is committed to safeguarding and securing our campus by utilizing effective patrol procedures and monitoring security systems. Campus Safety Officers are educated and trained with the proper safety equipment. Their professional appearance, attitude, and commitment to serving the University community ensure the protection of life and property. The department is committed to transparency, inclusion, and bias-free functioning. We aim to maintain a peaceful learning environment for our School of Law.

The UIC School of Law community is encouraged to report all suspicious and criminal activity promptly. Anyone who witnesses a crime or suspects a crime has been committed should report the matter to the Campus Safety & Security Department by dialing ext. 511 from any on-campus house phone. Cell phone users dial (312) 427-2737 ext. 511 to receive immediate assistance. When dialing 911 from a cell phone, be aware you will be connected to the Chicago Police Department, and this will NOT notify campus staff for assistance.

UIC ALERT Emergency Notification System [ENS] provides emergency notification of urgent UIC Law community notices. Receiving timely information about severe weather conditions or other emergency events affecting the university can make all the difference in knowing when to take immediate action to remain safe.
ENS notifications can be received via text or email. These alerts would be of a critical nature only. The nature of the alerts include: Emergency Broadcasts – Terrorist Alerts – Weather Advisories – School Closings – All-Points Bulletin (APB)

- Officers are training in First Aid, CPR/AED, Stop the Bleed, Mental Health, and NARCAN.
- The Campus Safety and Security Department is equipped to assist you with basic medical needs, including ice packs.
- Campus Safety Officer Escorts are available.

- Officers can Request a Night Ride upon request.
- Officers recommend students and staff use the 19 W. Jackson Blvd address for Uber/Lyft/Taxi pick up and wait in the Rideshare Area (foyer on Jackson Blvd) until their ride arrives.

Online Legal fillable petition for an order of protection in Cook County, or you can go to the domestic violence courthouse at 555 W. Harrison Street in Chicago during business hours.
