Moot Court Honors Council

The Moot Court program is one of UIC Law's five honors programs and is highly regarded within the legal community. To be eligible as a candidate for Moot Court Honors Council, a student must be in the top third of his/her class and must have successfully completed LS III: Herzog Competition with a grade of B or better. Herzog Competition finalists, semifinalists, quarterfinalists, top brief winners, and best oralists are also automatically eligible to be candidates. In addition, students who successfully write on to an honors journal or law review are eligible to be candidates. Candidacy in the Council provides an excellent opportunity to prepare for participation in one of the numerous moot court competitions UIC Law enters each semester.

Candidate responsibilities include mooting teams, working closely with board members on various activities and duties throughout the semester, assisting with the Herzog Competition as bailiffs or floor managers, and staffing the Moot Court Office for two hours each week. We welcome evening students and have flexible hours available. Being involved in Moot Court is a great opportunity to enhance your UIC Law experience and can be done in conjunction with other honors programs.

After completing the candidacy program, you may apply for election to a position on the Moot Court Executive Board for the following semester. All Board members receive partial tuition waivers and the option of receiving course credit.
