This year’s Diversity Week theme is “Authentic You” and will take place March 4-7, 2024. We will tackle the issues of authenticity and identity and how these themes intersect in the workplace. There will be dynamic programs each day featuring internal and external law school speakers and the first fashion show since 2018!

The schedule is as follows:

Monday – ‘Professional Identity: How to Authentically Represent Yourself’
Hosted By: Juan Sebastian Camacho – PepsiCo & Danielle McCain – Writing Resource Center

Description: Panelists will talk about the challenges of integrating in a professional space while balancing personal values, beliefs, and cultures.

Tuesday – ‘Unintentional Harm: Allyship versus Advocacy’
Hosted By: Renee Hatcher – Community Enterprise and Solidarity Economy Clinic & Jae Rice – Brave Space Alliance

Description: This program examines the potential fallout from poor allyship and unwavering advocacy, while discussing the nuances of those roles in our society.

Wednesday – ‘The Broken Rung: How Sexism Undermines’
Hosted By: Dr. Natalie Bennett – UIC Women’s Leadership and Resource Center & Kim Ricardo – Associate Dean of Experiential Education

Description: This panel explores how gender roles impact professional settings and personal development.

Thursday – ‘Meals Around the World’
Hosted By: Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

Description: Join us in ending Diversity Week by tasting samples of food from around the globe.
