Rising Attorneys Inclusive Summer Experience

                      

                       Thursday, May 30 from 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. | Friday, May 31 from 8 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

 

Join UIC Law for a Rising Attorney Inclusive Summer Experience (R.A.I.S.E)– an exciting two-day immersive event where you will explore how to prepare for, apply to, and finance law school; what to expect during law school; and how you can use your JD degree to improve yourself, your community, and society. Rising attorneys will get to:

  • Participate in a mock trial
  • Attend mock law classes taught by UIC Law faculty
  • Network with current and former students

Upon completion of the R.A.I.S.E program, qualified participants will receive a certificate of completion. Students must attend all sessions to receive their certificate.

Rising Attorneys Inclusive Summer Experience

Eligibility:

  • Continuing UIC undergrad students in any college or major
    (Unfortunately, students graduating spring or summer 2024 are not eligible.)
  • Priority will be given to higher class level students
  • Must be in good academic standing
  • Preference will be given to first generation college students
  • All spots for RAISE 2024 have been filled, but if you would like to be put on a waitlist, please email Dean Green at sbgreen@uic.edu.

Mock Class: Trademark Law
This mock Trademark Law class explored the historical development of trademark law, trademark rights, trademark registration, infringement, special defenses, and unfair competition law.

Mock Class: Restorative Justice
Is there a different, better way to address the impact of crime on individuals? Professor Michael Seng, renowned expert in this area, lead a class that asked students to consider the ways that restorative justice can help heal and rehabilitate and advance community needs.

Mock Class: The Right to Publicity in Video Games
Taught by Professor William k. Ford, this mock class allowed students to explore the legal implications of using a public figure’s image and/or likeness in video games and past court rulings on the subject
evidence
Mock Class: Evidence
This mock class was taught by Professor Marc Ginsberg explored what evidence is, how it is categorized, how to present evidence, and the jury selection process.

Getting to UIC Law Heading link

R.A.I.S.E will take place at UIC Law (300 South State Street Chicago, IL 60604). There are a variety of ways to get to the law school by car, public transportation, or by an alternative method. Useful apps for navigating public transit in the Chicago area include Transit Stop, Ventra, and Embark Metra. UIC Law has also negotiated discounted parking at two area garages, though you may also find good parking deals on websites such as Spot Hero. Take a look at the options below to determine which method works best for you.

Many CTA trains stop near the law school campus:

  • Blue line train (Jackson & Dearborn station)
  • Red line train (Jackson & State station)
  • Brown, Pink, Orange, Green line trains (Adams & Wabash station or State & Van Buren/Harold Washington Library station)
