Professor Robinson teaches Contracts I and II, as well as courses on technology and privacy law. Prior to joining the faculty at UIC John Marshall, he taught at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. Professor Robinson is a Certified Information Privacy Professional in both the United States (CIPP/US) and Europe (CIPP/E).
Professor Robinson's scholarly agenda focuses on the intersection between law, technology, public policy, and the future. Specifically, he is interested in exploring how legal and regulatory frameworks respond to developing technology. Randy has published works in the Harvard Law School Forum on Corporate Governance and Financial Regulation, the Denver Law Review, and the Race to the Bottom. His most recent article, "The New Digital Wild West: Regulating the Explosion of Initial Coin Offerings," appeared in the Summer 2018 edition of the Tennessee Law Review.
Professor Robinson graduated with honors from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law, earning both a J.D. and Certificate in Constitutional Rights and Remedies. During law school he was a senior editor on the law review and received numerous academic awards. After law school, he served as a law clerk to The Honorable Monica M. Márquez of the Colorado Supreme Court. Following his clerkship, he worked in private practice, focused on complex commercial litigation, employment litigation matters, and business disputes. Professor Robinson also has experience as counsel in pro bono prisoner rights cases. Following his time in private practice, he served as Vice President and General Counsel of a health care company.
Professor Robinson is licensed to practice in the State of Colorado and admitted to practice before the Federal District Court, District of Colorado and the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals.
