About

Philip Johnson has served as Instructional & Student Services Librarian since 2013. He has taught Advanced Legal Research, frequently guest lectures in the Lawyering Skills program, and has also lectured on research in administrative, tax, and bankruptcy law. He serves on the Law School's Student Engagement Committee as well as the University Library Accessibility Committee. He is active in the Chicago Association of Law Libraries, where he most recently served as President, the American Association of Law Libraries, and the Mid-America Association of Law Libraries. He previously served as Executive Director of Scribes—the American Society of Legal Writers from 2017 to 2023. He holds a J.D., M.S.I.S., and B.A. with high honors in English from the University of Texas at Austin.
