UIC Law Professor Sarah Dávila A. has been nominated and selected to join the inaugural cohort of the UIC Network for Global Scholarship, Research, and Creative Activity, an initiative designed to highlight the institutions work in these areas. The network will be composed of faculty members who have had a demonstrated major impact on international research, scholarship, and creative activity in their discipline.
The goal of the initiative is two-fold: to encourage international research collaborations across UIC and to encourage other UIC faculty members who are launching or expanding their globally focused work to learn from colleagues who are active and successful international researchers.
Professor Dávila’s Work
Professor Dávila is the director of the UIC Law International Human Rights Clinic (IHRC). She has extensive experience in the domestic and international litigation of human rights cases and has engaged in impact advocacy at the United Nations. She has also authored many scholarly articles and papers on the subject of international human rights.
Professor Dávila is often invited to speak on the treatment and detention conditions of immigrants and asylum seekers, the rights of older persons, the concept of vulnerability in international law and human rights, and other topics in international and domestic human rights. She regularly represents the Clinic and Law School in international and domestic networks of human rights practitioners and scholars.
