Associate Dean and Professor of Law Amy T. Campbell was recently named Board Chair of the International Society of Therapeutic Jurisprudence (ISTJ), an organization dedicated to advancing Therapeutic Jurisprudence (TJ) by:

  • supporting and spotlighting legal and interdisciplinary scholarship
  • identifying and promoting best practices
  • sponsoring conferences, workshops, and seminar
  • fostering TJ networking
  • and engaging in public education activities

TJ is an interdisciplinary field—with normative and empirical approaches—that examines the therapeutic and anti-therapeutic properties of laws and public policies, legal and dispute resolution systems, and legal institutions. As Board Chair, Dean Campbell hopes to expand and deepen TJ’s presence in legal and interdisciplinary settings, including by engaging new scholars and practitioners to highlight the ways in which TJ aligns with and can support similar efforts to advance human dignity and emotional wellness through law and structural reform.

This summer, Dean Campbell joined the past two Board Chairs to co-host the TJ kick-off session at the biennial International Congress in Law & Mental Health in Barcelona, Spain.
