Tracy G. Crump joined the UIC John Marshall Law School’s Writing Resource Center in 2019. She holds the following degrees: a Ph.D. in Criminology, Law, and Justice from the University of Illinois at Chicago, with a specialization in gender and women’s studies; a J.D. from the UIC John Marshall Law School; and a LL.M. in Family Law from the Loyola University Chicago School of Law.

Tracy has served as a higher education professional since 2007.  She currently serves as Associate Professor of Criminal Justice at Saint Xavier University in the Sociology, Anthropology and Criminal Justice Department.  Among other awards, she received the Diversifying Higher Education Faculty in Illinois Fellowship and the UIC Scholarship Association’s Richard H. Ward Award.  Her recent scholarship has been published in The Criminal Justice Journal from Ashford University and McGraw-Hill Education and ACJS Today.

Tracy works to create a student-driven coaching environment where she helps students identify their writing goals and understand their audience.  She enjoys offering advice, providing legal writing resources and services, and assisting students comprehend the legal writing process as they cultivate their legal writing skills.
