R.A.I.S.E 2025 Dates Coming Soon!

The Rising Attorneys Inclusive Summer Experience (R.A.I.S.E) is a free, exciting two-day immersive event open only to UIC undergraduates. In the program, students explore how to prepare for, apply to, and finance law school; learn what to expect during law school; and discover how you can use a JD degree to improve yourself, your community, and society.

Upon completion of the RAISE program, qualified participants will receive a certificate of completion. Students must attend all sessions to receive their certificate.

What to Expect

Mock Classes
Our mock classes are designed to provide the practical experience and confidence needed to thrive in the legal field. Our expert instructors simulate real-life legal scenarios, helping you sharpen your courtroom skills, hone your legal writing, and perfect your ability to think on your feet. Whether you're preparing for your first trial or seeking to refine your skills, these mock classes offer invaluable hands-on practice in a supportive, constructive environment.

Mock Trial
We’ll see you in court! In this session, students will be divided into groups, given assignments, and undergo a series of simulation trainings with real life judges as they prepared to defend cases in a mock trial.

Law School Presentations
Students will take part in a series of presentations with topics such as: how to get into law school, funding your law school education, and how to succeed in law school.

Networking Opportunities
Connect with those who’ve walked the path you’re just beginning—gain insights, ask questions, and build meaningful relationships that can guide and support you throughout your legal journey. Whether you're seeking mentorship, advice on law school, or future career opportunities, this is your chance to start building your professional network before law school even begins.

Open to All Majors

R.A.I.S.E is suitable for ALL majors! If you are already pre-law, join us to learn more! If you are in any other major – from STEM to art to business, and everything else – you can learn how you can combine your passions with a law degree! Many previous students who had not considered law school have learned about the possibilities that law school offers.

Eligibility:

  • Continuing UIC undergrad students in any college or major (Unfortunately, students graduating spring or summer 2025 are not eligible.)
  • Priority will be given to students closer to graduating
  • Must be in good academic standing
  • Preference will be given to first generation college students
  • For best consideration, please apply by May 1.
