Public Interest Law

A Committment to Service

UIC Law, as the school of opportunity, recognizes the importance of public service and has a stated goal of servicing the community. Service to the community has been a part of the UIC Law's tradition since the law school’s inception, and continues to inspire our students to professional excellence. Our law school strongly encourages our students to contribute to society through pursuing public interest law careers, pro bono work, and fellowships.

The Career Services Office offers support to students wishing to pursue careers in the public sector and seeks to be a valuable resource to students and alumni looking for public sector positions. The office has a career counselor designated to provide counseling and services to students seeking to work in the public sector. Services include:

  • Resume and cover letter review
  • One-on-one counseling
  • Programs and networking opportunities
  • Assistance with seeking grants and fellowships
